Questions are stored tagged by subject, topic, difficulty level and Bloom's taxonomy category (recall, application, analysis) so papers can be generated by rule rather than manually assembled each time. We support MCQ (single and multiple correct), true/false, fill-in-the-blank with pattern matching, numeric-answer with tolerance ranges, match-the-following, and free-text/essay questions that route to manual or AI-assisted evaluation. Exam Delivery Engine
This is the part most vendors underestimate. A timed exam needs a server-authoritative clock (never trust the client browser for countdown), auto-save of answers at short intervals so a network drop doesn't lose responses, auto-submission exactly at the deadline, and section-wise or question-wise time locks for exams that require sequential progression. We build the delivery layer to survive tab switches, browser refreshes, and reconnects without letting the candidate re-open a closed section - typically using a combination of WebSocket or polling-based state sync with the server plus local storage fallback.
Auto-Evaluation and Manual Grading Workflows
Objective questions are scored instantly against the answer key, with support for negative marking, partial credit on multi-correct questions, and section-wise weightage. For subjective answers, we build reviewer dashboards with rubric-based scoring, second-evaluator/moderation workflows for disputed scripts, and optional AI-assisted first-pass scoring for short-answer responses - always with a human override, since fully automated grading of free text is a liability in high-stakes exams, not a shortcut.
Proctoring Support
Depending on the stakes of the exam, proctoring can mean anything from a locked-down browser (disabling copy/paste, right-click, tab switching, and screen recording tools) to webcam-based monitoring with periodic snapshot capture, audio level flags, and integration with third-party AI proctoring APIs for face-match and gaze-tracking. We scope this honestly with clients: full AI proctoring adds cost and infrastructure (video storage, bandwidth, review staff) that isn't justified for a low-stakes internal quiz but is often mandatory for certification or recruitment exams.
Analytics and Reporting
Beyond a scorecard, institutions typically need item-level analytics - which questions were most missed, average time spent per question, difficulty index recalculated from actual candidate performance, percentile and normalization calculations across multiple shifts of the same exam, and exportable reports for accreditation or audit purposes. We build this as a reporting layer on top of raw response data rather than pre-baked charts, so new report types can be added later without re-architecting the database.

Web-Only vs. Hybrid Locked Environment
A browser-based exam is easier to deploy and update but harder to fully lock down. A dedicated exam app (Electron for desktop, or a native Android/iOS app with device-lock mode) gives tighter control over what the candidate can access during the test but adds installation friction. We help clients decide based on candidate device profile and how much proctoring rigor the exam actually requires.
Load Planning for Peak Concurrency
An exam where every candidate logs in at 10:00 AM sharp is a different load problem than a website with steady traffic. We plan database connection pooling, read-replica usage for question fetches, and queueing for login/authentication so the system doesn't fall over in the first five minutes of the exam window - this gets tested with load simulation before go-live, not assumed.
Data Integrity and Audit Trail
Every answer submission, timestamp, IP address, and section transition gets logged in a way that can reconstruct exactly what happened if a result is challenged later. This matters far more in exam software than in most other applications because the cost of an unresolvable dispute is reputational and sometimes legal.
Our Delivery Process
We start by mapping the actual exam workflow the client runs today - paper-based or existing digital - including how question papers are currently secured, who approves them, and how results are currently communicated. Exam software doesn't get "finished" once - question banks need continuous additions, new exam patterns get requested each cycle, and server capacity needs review before every major exam window. We provide ongoing support for question bank management, pre-exam load checks, bug fixes, and incremental feature additions like new question types or reporting formats as the client's assessment program grows.
