Why UI/UX Design Fails Most Often
Most interface redesigns don't fail because the colours were wrong or the font wasn't trendy enough. They fail because nobody mapped what the user was actually trying to do before wireframes started. A checkout flow with five fields feels "clean" in a mockup and still loses 30% of users at payment if the error states, autofill behaviour and mobile keyboard handling weren't designed with the same rigour as the layout. Discovery and research
Depending on the product's maturity, this covers stakeholder interviews, competitor teardown, heuristic evaluation of the existing interface (using Nielsen's usability heuristics as a checklist, not gospel), and if there's traffic already, funnel analysis in GA4 or Hotjar/Clarity session replays. For B2B software, we also map user roles and permissions early, since role-based UI (admin vs. operator vs. viewer) changes the information architecture significantly.
Information architecture and wireframing
Low-fidelity wireframes in Figma establish page hierarchy, navigation depth and content priority before any colour or typography decision is made. For content-heavy platforms (marketplaces, HRMS dashboards, admin panels), we build a site map and card-sort the navigation with actual stakeholders rather than guessing the mental model.
Prototyping and interaction design
Clickable prototypes cover the primary user flows end to end - not just the happy path. Error states, empty states, loading states and permission-denied screens get designed at this stage, because these are usually the parts left to developers to "figure out" later, which is where inconsistency creeps in.
Visual design system
We deliver a component library (buttons, form fields, cards, modals, tables) with defined states - default, hover, focus, disabled, error - built either as a Figma design system or mapped directly to a code-level system if the frontend already uses Tailwind, Material UI, Ant Design or a custom component library. Matching design tokens to actual CSS variables avoids the usual gap between what's designed and what ships.
Usability validation
Where the budget allows, we run moderated usability tests with 5-8 representative users on the prototype before development starts. This is deliberately small-sample - Jakob Nielsen's research on usability testing shows most major issues surface within the first five sessions, and catching them here is far cheaper than catching them in a post-launch support ticket.
Web, Mobile and Software Dashboards Need Different Approaches
A marketing website's UX priority is persuasion and clarity within seconds of landing - hero messaging, scroll behaviour, CTA placement, page speed perception. A mobile app has to account for thumb reach zones, offline states, platform conventions (iOS Human Interface Guidelines vs. Android Material Design), and gesture-based navigation. A SaaS or internal software dashboard is a different problem entirely: it's about reducing cognitive load across repeated daily use, designing dense data tables that stay scannable, and building consistent patterns across dozens of screens so users don't have to relearn the interface every time a new module ships. We scope each engagement against which of these three contexts applies, because a template approach across all three produces mediocre results in each.
Design Tools and Handoff
Figma is our default for design, prototyping and developer handoff, using auto-layout and variables so components stay consistent as the product scales. For handoff, we don't just export a Figma link - we document spacing, breakpoints, component states and interaction specs so frontend developers (ours or the client's in-house team) aren't guessing at edge cases. If the project involves an existing codebase, we review the current component structure before designing new screens, so recommendations are actually buildable within the existing frontend stack rather than requiring a rewrite.
How Redesigns of Existing Products Are Handled
Redesigning a live product carries a different risk profile than designing something new: existing users have muscle memory, and a full visual overhaul can hurt retention even when the new design is objectively better. For active products, we typically recommend phased rollout - either an opt-in beta, an A/B test on a subset of traffic, or module-by-module replacement rather than a single big-bang launch. This also gives us real usage data to validate whether the redesign actually improved the target metric (task completion time, conversion rate, support ticket volume) instead of relying on subjective feedback alone.

Interface design on its own doesn't fix a slow backend, a broken database schema, or a checkout that fails under load - those are separate engineering problems.
